Painting With Light

I think the photographer was able to full painting with light photo off by having a great knowledge on how setting, ss, ap, iso, and Lense should be for this type of picture. The first thing I think he did was having his shutter speed at maybe at 4 seconds. The second thing he probably did was having is wide Lense of a 35mm fisheye. A third he did was to have a high aperture of approximately f/16. Another thing he did was to have his ISO at 200 to make the background even darker but not 100 because it will be too dark. Also there looks to be a light source coming from a hallway, red and white finger lights. It is so eye catching because of the patterns the light were going in.

  1. The file sizes are different RAW has a significantly larger size than JPEG has a smaller file size, also RAW has much better quality since it is letting most of the details in.
  2. RAW is the bigger file.
  3. Yes, you can change the Raw file into a Jpeg by opening the photos in Raw format in photoshop. Go to files and choose save as and select from the list, jpg, choose a compression between 90 – 100%, or it will lead to a loss of quality.
  4. If I was shooting an important event I would shoot in Raw because it captures all of the details and much better quality, so you would want that picture to come out the best it can possible be.

White balance is used to correct the color of the image, if it is too blue or green colored it will make it look like it is shot in natural light. During the white balance process, you’re technically adjusting the colors along two spectrums, color temperature, and color tint. It is also used to adjust colors to match the color of the light source so that white object appears white. Most light sources produce a color cast depending on where you are taking the photo for example indoors you might get a yellow or blue lighting. You can also us an incorrect white balance to exaggerate the conditions of the scene.

  1. Tungsten
  2. Fluorescent
  3. Flash
  4. Daylight
  5. Cloudy
  6. Shade
  7. Custom white balance
  8. Kelvin mode
  9. Incandescent

Aaron Siskind’s work focuses on the details of things such as texture, composition, focus, black and white photos. He is mostly known for his innovations in abstract photography, he mostly uses black and white, close range, and aerial photos of surfaces and objects. In my opinion I think his work is great because of the black and white photos with a lot of texture and focus on the little details of those three photos of his work I picked to post with mines
